Grants available for local cultural activities

SWEET HOME EMERGENCY MINISTRIES has received two grants that have helped it provide meals for local needy families. Here ,volunteers Shirley Schumacher, left, and Alexis Tucker work in a new commercial two-bay freezer funded by a "generous" grant from Oregon Food Bank Network and the Network Support Funds Program. The freezer replaces two others in SHEM's pantry that have failed.

The Linn County Cultural Coalition is accepting proposals for grants to fund projects that will promote and improve access to the arts, to history and local heritage, and for humanities-related activities in Linn County.

The LCCC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization affiliated with the Oregon State Cultural Trust, a statewide entity established to promote and strengthen cultural activities in Oregon.

For the upcoming dispersal, the LCCC may allocate up to $18,000 for grants in this funding cycle. Grants typically range between $250 and $2,500. Project proposals are considered on a case-b...
