Frances Gaskey Hughes, 97, of Sweet Home, died March 20, 2021.
She was born Oct. 18, 1923 in Wright City, Okla. to John Columbus and Nettie Mae (Tollett) Parker.
She lived in Wright City until 1948, when she moved to Sweet Home before moving to a farm in Crawfordsville in 1961.
After her divorce in 1976 she moved to Lebanon and then back to Sweet Home in 1997. She moved to The Oaks in Lebanon in 2018, where she remained until her death.
Mrs. Hughes owned and operated Fran’s Beauty Salon in Lebanon for 20 years. She attended the Sweet Home Assembly of God in Sweet Home. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary #51 in Lebanon.
She enjoyed traveling, dance and crocheting. She loved family gatherings.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by her daughters, Charlene and son-in-law Rich Adams, and Brenda and son-in-law Ervin Dirks, all of Sweet Home; son John Ed and daughter-in-law Lezlie Gaskey of Prine-ville; half sister Mary Parker; eight grandchildren; 18-great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her parents, John C. Parker in 1973, Mae Parker in 1986; sisters Hazel Chambers, Lorene McFarland and Mary Lee Hays; half brothers John C. Parker Jr. and L.C. Parker; and ex-husband Delbert J. Gaskey in 2005.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Harvest Christian Church in Sweet Home.
