Four-day burn ban starts Thursday
April 14, 2021
A four-day burn ban will start Thursday morning, April 15, and run through Monday, April 19.
The Linn County Fire Defense Board, made up of local fire chiefs in the county, decided to institute the ban due to east winds and expected warm temperatures over the weekend, Sweet Home Fire Chief Dave Barringer said.
“We decided this morning that a burn ban would start Thursday at 7 a.m. and last till 7 p.m. on Monday,” he said.
Prohibited are debris and other burn piles. The ban does not include barbecues, ceremonial fires, firepits, etc.
“Due to the east winds, there's been an uptick in fire activity,” Barringer said. “There is scheduled east winds and increased temperatures, which are atypical for this time of year.”
