Boys finish basketball season with win, then losses to top teams

HUSKIES CELEBRATE after Cole Baxter buried a last-second basket to beat Newport.

Sweet Home boys basketball finished the season 7-6, going .500 in league play with a 3-3 record. They finished fourth in the 4A-3 Oregon West Conference, behind Cascade, Woodburn and Philomath.

The season's final week started out memorably for the Huskies, with senior Cole Baxter connecting on a game-winning three-pointer with a few seconds left to beat Newport 72-70 at home. Hunter Coulter scored 22, Aiden Tyler scored 18, and Owen Towry finished with 13 for the Huskies.
