Fire breaks out NE of SH

A fire burning on the Willamette National Forest about 30 miles northeast of Sweet Home was at about 65 acres in size Tuesday morning, as The New Era went to press.
Smoke from the blaze, which has been named the “Bruler Fire” on the boundary of the Sweet Home and Detroit ranger districts, was visible in the Quartzville area. It was reported Monday afternoon.
An emergency closure has been implemented, and the public was being asked to avoid the Middle Santiam Wilderness, the Old Cascade Loop Trails and Forest Service roads in the Quartzville area.
