May 31, 1935 - July 2, 2021

Faye LaVerne Cole, 86, of Eugene passed away July 2, 2021.

She was born May 31, 1935, in Holley to Ernest F. Rice and Lois V. (Robnett) Rice.

The Rice and Robnett families homesteaded in the Sweet Home – Crawfordsville area in 1848 and 1850, respectively, when both sides of her family crossed the Oregon Trail.

She was always proud of her family’s pioneer heritage and rural roots.

Raised in Holley, Faye graduated from Sweet Home High School and attended business classes in Salem.

Faye married Willard “Jack” Cole in 1961 and they settled in Eugene, where they raised their three daughters, Susan, Peggy and Laura.

Jack preceded her in death in 2018.

Faye worked in the accounting and payroll department for 30 years for the Eugene Clinic.

Faye lived to serve others in many ways, particularly through activities at her church, First Christian Church of Eugene.

She could often be found with a gift of flowers, a meal, or mowing a lawn for someone in need.

In her later years she fulfilled her dreams to travel abroad, then settled down to just enjoy friends and family, especially her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 11 am Friday, July 16, at Crawfordsville Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her name to McKenzie River Trust. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
