Jan. 5, 1948 - July 4, 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gary D. Morris, age 73, of Sweet Home, on July 4, 2021.

Gary was surrounded by close family in his home on the last days of his life.

Gary was born Jan. 5, 1948, to Frank and Nora Morris, one of 12 children.

He lived in many places in Oregon, graduated from Jefferson High School, and moved to Sweet Home, where he resided for over 50 years.

Gary is survived by his wife, Cindy Morris, and together they had 25 magical years of marriage.

Gary had many friends and family members who will miss him tremendously.

Gary is also survived by his children, Corey Naum (Trish) of Portland; Jeff Morris (Charay) of Long Beach, Calif.; Angie Cortez of Dallas; and step-children Stephanie Miller (Levi) of Sublimity and Eric Nelson of Salem; and five brothers and five sisters.

Gary was a loving grandpa and had six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Gary worked hard and entered the work force at a young age. He began his career at Willamette Industries at the age of 18 and worked in many different positions during his time at the mill.

As an adult, he went back to college to become a journeyman electrician and retired after 43 years. Gary had a full life with many hobbies and past time activities.

A few of his favorite activities were spending time with his family, fishing, camping, tinkering with his 1967 Chevy Camaro, shooting pool, and taking care of his home and farm. Gary was known for his kindness and big heart. He could often be found helping others in times of need.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 22 at the Sweet Home Elks Lodge.
