WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Bruler Fire containment at 53%

A South Cascade Interagency Type 3 team assumed command Wednesday at the 195-acre Bruler Fire 30 miles northeast of Sweet Home, the U.S. Forest Service announced late Wednesday afternoon.
Containment is listed at 53%.
The blaze was first spotted Monday, July 12, near the jurisdiction of Forest Roads 11 (Straight Creek and Quartzville roads) and 1133 approximately 9 miles south of Detroit in the Sweet Home Ranger District.
Its cause remains under investigation.
The Type 3 team took over from Northwest Incident Interagency Management Team 13, working to finish and improve contingency lines and continue the mop-up process. Approximately 159 personnel are assigned to the fire.
The adjective class was raised to “very high” Wednesday. Campfires within the Willamette National Forest will continue to be banned, including within established campground fire pits. Vehicles will be restricted to established forest roads, except for Huckleberry Flats and the Santiam OHV areas. For the complete list of restrictions, visit https://go.usa.gov/xFbaq.
"It is important to be ready for fire season," a U.S. Forest Service press release stated. "With the drought and record heat wave in June, this fire
season will require vigilance and caution from everyone. Before a wildfire occurs in your area, create defensible space near your house. Remove flammable vegetation and other combustible material near your home. This includes cleaning gutters, roofs, and removing material under decks. Develop an evacuation plan for your family and assemble an emergency supply kit."
