National Weather Service predicts mid-valley heat wave this week

An excessive heat watch is in effect this week for the mid-Willamette Valley, running Wednesday afternoon to Saturday morning, according to a National Weather Service advisory released Sunday, Aug. 8.

Afternoon high temperatures are forecast to land between 90 to 95 degrees on Wednesday, then continue to increase to up to 100 for Thursday and Friday, with highs of 99 and 103 tentatively predicted for both days, respectively. Temperatures should remain in the 90- to 95-degree range, the agency reported. Overnight, lows are predicted to be in the middle to upper 60s the rest of the week.

The NWS watch applies overall to portions of southwest Washington and northwestern Oregon.
