County courthouse briefly locked down over threats

Linn County Courthouse was locked down on the morning of Thursday, Dec. 9, after deputies learned someone was bringing a gun to court and planned to harm those in the courtroom. 

Undersheriff Michelle Duncan reported that word of the threat reached law enforcement around 11:16 a.m.

Due to the nature of the initial threat, deputies quickly began to close the courthouse to the public and investigate. They learned a defendant in a landlord dispute had made vague threats to the landlord’s attorney. This information evolved into inaccurate information, Duncan said.
