Fire destroys barn on Ames Creek

Sweet Home firefighters battle a fire that destroyed a barn at 43424 Ames Creek Road on the evening of Friday, Dec. 10.

The 900-square-foot structure was fully involved and the roof had collapsed when eight Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District personnel arrived on the scene, to the west of the Green Mountain gate, with four fire apparatus, said SHFAD Firefighter/Paramedic Zach Lincoln.

It took the crew an hour to extinguish the flames. Since there was no roadway leading to the barn, the crew had to pull 600 feet of line in order to diffuse the blaze.
