Sweet Home swimmers edge Shelton, beat two others at Newport

After missing an extra week after their swim meet at Stayton, scheduled for Dec. 30, was called off due to weather, Sweet Home’s girls got back into the groove Saturday at Newport, coming away with a team win.

The boys were third, behind Newport, one of the top boys teams in the state, and Sheldon, which brought about half its approximately 75 swimmers, according to Sweet Home Coach A Jay Bronson.

The girls beat Shelton 149 to 145, with Newport in third (106) and St. Mary’s or Medford in fourth (37).
