February 2, 2022

A Sweet Home man was arrested Tuesday morning, Feb. 1, following a road rage incident in the Lebanon area, Lebanon Police reported.

According to police, at approximately 9:39 a.m. on Tuesday the Lebanon Police Department received a call about a road-rage incident in which a male subject had allegedly pointed a gun at another vehicle that was occupied by an adult female and two small children.

The incident first occurred on South Santiam Highway near Sodaville-Waterloo Road and continued towards the city limits of Lebanon.

Officer Eric Stein responded to the call and learned that the suspect vehicle was no longer in the area; through interviews, he learned that the male suspect had appeared distraught about traffic conditions, and as the victim was passing the suspect, the suspect pointed a handgun in the victim's direction.

Stein continued to investigate this case and developed leads to the suspect vehicle; ultimately, with the assistance of Sweet Home Police Department, the suspect, identified as 61-year-old Kenneth Wayne Parker of Sweet Home was contacted at his residence and taken into custody without incident.

A search of Parker's vehicle yielded the firearm allegedly used in the incident, which was seized by Lebanon Police Department. Parker was temporarily lodged at the Lebanon Municipal Jail and was later transported to Linn County Jail on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, and second-degree disorderly conduct.

Lebanon Police Department reported it has had one prior contact with Mr. Parker; no criminal charges were filed in that case.

This is still an active investigation. Those with information regarding the case are encouraged to contact Lebanon Police Officer Eric Stein at (541) 258-4327.
