Sweet Home sees building increase in 2021

Demand comes despite shortages and raised prices

When discussing construction in Sweet Home, words like "growth" and "demand" come up often.

According to the Community Economic Development Department Report for Dec. 2021, the city issued 350 building permits in 2021, a 27.7% increase from 274 in 2020. That's a 17.5% jump from the annual average of permits issued from 2016-2020.

"It's reflecting the market," Community and Economic Development Director Blair Larsen said. "There is a huge demand for residential properties. People were waiting around to see if building made sense for them, and the demand has pushed them over the edge. People...
