Fire in wall doused quickly, thanks to alert homeowner

An alert homeowner saved a house from severe fire damage Sunday morning with an early-morning call to the Fire Department.

Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District personnel were dispatched at 7:18 a.m. to a fire at 43554 Wiley Creek Drive, where they saw smoke coming out of a wall.

“Essentially, what we had was burned studs around an electrical box,” Fire Chief Dave Barringer said. “The thing I like is that the homeowner called in early.”

Firefighters were able to use a heat imaging camera to quickly locate the fire and put it out.
