Final suspect arrested in assault on Sweet Home boy

Sweet Home police have announced the arrest of a final suspect in the beating attack on a 13-year-old Sweet Home student.

Custin Jones, Jr., 21, of the Albany area, was arrested Tuesday, March 29, and charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, plus third-degree assault and riot, which are Class C felonies.

Jones was lodged at the Linn County Jail on $13,000 bail.

13-year-old Sweet Home Junior High student Gavin Doner, who was jumped and beaten by a group of older teens near a Sweet Home High School parking lot on Feb. 9.

Police have arrested five people suspected of participating in the incident, including 18-year-old Dakota Alan Ray House, also of Albany, plus four juveniles: a 15-year-old Sweet Home girl, and a 14-year-old boy, 15-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy, all from Albany. Their names have not been released.

All face third-degree assault and disorderly conduct charges; House faces other charges, as well. Doner was treated for his injuries at an area hospital.

Photos of adult suspects in this case are not available due to a new state law, passed last year, that prohibits authorities from releasing photos of suspects or arrestees, except in circumstances in which they deem it necessary for the public to be on the lookout for an individual.
