'Improving' golfers host own tournament before hitting road again

Sweet Home hosted its only home golf tournament of the year Friday, April 8, finishing fifth – by two shots – in the five-team boys field that included three of the best teams in the state.

Marist won the team title at Mallard Creek Golf Course, finishing with a 322 as Ben Proulx tied with Woodburn's Ty Beyer at 74 for individual medalist honors.

Cascade's Ramsey Gordon was right behind with a 75, with teammate Izaiah Zavala third with a 78 to take the Cougars to second place. Woodburn was third (368), Stayton was fourth (425) and the Huskies finished with 427.
