Shirley J. Lamb

Shirley J. Lamb, 85, was granted her angel wings on Monday April 25, 2022.

Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends in Bend. Shirley was a long-time resident of Sweet Home.

She was born Dec. 27, 1936, in Huntley, Mont., to Jesse E. and Dorothy L. (Brown) Skaggs.

In 1953, she met Raymond Lamb and they married soon after. Ray and Shirley moved to Sweet Home in 1963 where she worked many years as a manager and bartender for the VFW hall and was president of the Sweet Home Elkettes for numerous years as well.

In addition, Shirley worked for the Sweet Home school district as a bus driver and superintendent of the bus garage until she retired.

Her interests included spending as much time as possible with family and friends, loving on her animals, sewing and painting. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to several family members.

Those who were lucky enough to have known Shirley will remember her quick wit, her smile, laugh and gentle soul. She would have given a stranger the shirt off her back and smile while doing it.

Mrs. Lamb is survived by her three sons, Robert, Randy and Scott, and their spouses; daughter Tammy; brother Ralph; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Lamb; her parents; sister Sharon Rains; brothers: Earl and Joe Skaggs.

Viewing will be at noon Saturday, April 30, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., with a graveside service following at Gilliland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley's name can be made to the Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
