Huskies fall in softball after Stayton gets away

Sweet Home’s softball players watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-2 loss on the road at conference-leading Stayton on Wednesday.
The Eagles (15-2) exploded for nine runs in the first inning, knocking starting pitcher Makayla Guthrie out of the game after she had only recorded one out.
Remarkably, despite Stayton’s scoring spree, Guthrie did not allow a single earned run in the first inning, as it was Sweet Home’s five errors in that frame that really cost the Huskies.
