Anita Margarete Launder, 97, of Sweet Home, died peacefully at home May 14, 2022.

She was born April 2, 1925 to Kurt and Martha (Schotte) Streppel in Naumburg, Germany.

In 1949, she came from Germany to America, starting out in Southern California. She, her husband, Glenn, and their five children moved to Northern California, spending several years in Los Molinos, where she worked as beautician.

In 1971 she and her family moved to Sweet Home.

Mrs. Launder continued her career for many years as a beautician at Perfect Look until retirement. She was a long-time member of Sweet Home Mennonite Church as well as the Sweet Home Veterans Club.

She loved gardening, cooking, bread making and quilting; she made many beautiful quilts for all those she loved.

Mrs. Launder will be missed for all her stories, her bright smile and her big, loving heart.

She is survived by three of her children, Ivan and daughter-in-law Margarita Launder of Cottonwood, Calif., Mimi Cleland of Sweet Home, and Ron and daughter-in-law Sandy Launder, all of Sweet Home. She also leaves behind a lifetime of legacy for her 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Launder was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Launder, in 2000; sons: Bob Launder in 1966 and Ray Launder in 2014; son-in-law Roger Cleland in 2013; sisters Christa Mahler and Ute Dutton; and grandson L.D. Leininger II in 1974.

A celebration of life, being planned in her honor, will be announced at a later time.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
