Dennis Charles Huenergardt, 67, of Sweet Home, died May 20, 2022.

He was born Sept. 15, 1955, to Chuck and Donna Huenergardt in Portland. He had two siblings, Randy Huenergardt, now of Colville Wash., and Sherry DeWeese of McMinnville.

Mr. Huenergardt attended high school in Portland and college Bend before working 33 years for the U.S. Forest Service in the Sweet Home area. He was a volunteer firefighter for 30-plus years for the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District.

He coached his kids in football, baseball, softball and basketball in the Sweet Home community. He lived for family, friends, camping, hunting, his community and every minute he could spend with his grandkids.

Mr. Huenergardt is survived by wife, Dianna Huenergardt; his children, Jared Huenergardt of Sweet Home; Cyrus Shehniyilagh of Red Oak, Texas; Matthew Claxton of Lake Tapps, Wash .; Idahna Freitag of Sweet Home; and Hailee Veitenheimer of Junction City; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chuck Huenergardt.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Sweet Home Community Chapel 42250 Ames Creek Road.
