Ruby LaNae Harmsworth, 87, of Sweet Home, died Aug. 11, 2022, in Albany.

She was born May 2, 1935, in Provo, Utah, to John Paul and Verland Ruby (Hansen) Sundquist.

She spent her early years with different relatives following her father's death and, in 1950, moved to Dexter, where she met Marvin Harmsworth.

They were married on July 12, 1952 in Stevenson, Wash.

The Harmsworths traveled while Marvin worked construction in Oregon. In 1963 they moved to Sweet Home and stayed.

Mrs. Harmsworth worked for the Sweet Home School district as a kindergarten assistant for 15 years, retiring in December 1991. The Harmsworths then traveled in their motorhome for years, visiting 48 states.

Mrs. Harmsworth enjoyed cross-stitching, loved canning to share with family, and walking.

She loved her family and friends very much. Her family meant everything to her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Harmsworth is survived by her daughters: Connie Jahns, Sue Snook and son-in-law Dennis, and Julie Adams and son-in-law Doug; six grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; and cousins Wilma and Rod.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, in 2016; and sisters Dee and Lorna.

Private family services will be held.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
