The New Era - All about Sweet Home since 1929

Lavida "Vi" Richards, seen in the first photo and at center right in the second, celebrated her 100th birthday on Aug. 13 with her famly, pictured at top, at Waterloo Park. Sixty-five family members from Oregon, California, Washington, North Dakota, Texas and Florida were present (see third photo), including her six children, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Born Aug. 15, 1922 in Iowa, she moved to Sweet Home in 1941, becoming very active in the community, and at 90 received a VIP Award, above, at the 2012 Chamber of Commerce awards banquet
