I am also a long-term resident of Linn County and concerned about the qualifications of the next sheriff.

I had the opportunity to meet and hear Sheriff Duncan speak at the Senior Center last week. She is well qualified to continue as our sheriff and has proven she can handle the many aspects of the job.

There is far more to the job than just patrolling.

Perhaps those communities where the “professionals” failed would have been better served had more been known about them before they were hired as police officers.

The former sheriffs have done well for the people of our county....
