Soccer: Girls lose two in tough week

Sweet Home girls soccer lost two lopsided games last week against league opponents.

The Huskies first fell to Newport 8-0 on Oct. 18, and then lost to Philomath by the same score on Oct. 20. Both games were at Husky Field.

The losses put the Huskies at 2-9-2 on the season.

"These last two games were rough because some of the girls were sick," said Head Coach Ramiro Santana. "We struggle as is, and losing some of our starting players made it even rougher. We played as well as we could."

Newport (10-2-1) scored in the third, sixth, 10th, 14th, and 35th minutes of the first half to take a 5-0...
