Girls basketball: Girls suffer loss in league opener at Cascade after losing starter Mamac

Sweet Home girls basketball started off league play in the Oregon West Conference on the wrong foot last week, losing at Cascade, who sits at third in the conference, by a score of 70-20 on Jan. 20.
The Cougars (5-6) jumped out to a big 29-5 lead after one quarter, and were up 46-12 at halftime.
The loss came after the Huskies (4-10) learned earlier in the week that sophomore starting guard Kaylynn Mamac would be out for the rest of the season due to a broken collarbone she sustained while playing basketball in the summer.
