Jack Gerald Herring, 92, of Sweet Home, died Jan. 19, 2023.

He was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Alma, Ark., to Floyd Lemuel and Amy Elizabeth (Huff) Herring.

Mr. Herring lived in Lake Arrowhead, Calif., before moving to Oregon. He attended the University of Pacific in Stockton, Calif., studying mechanical engineering.

He worked for White's Electronics years ago. He was involved in the Baptist Church in Lacomb.

Mr. Herring enjoyed playing his guitar, taking walks in the woods and dancing. He was known as "Cap'n Jack" for his love of boating.

Mr. Herring is survived by his wife Alfreda of Sweet Home; five children, Roger of Michigan, Rocky of Bend, Jackie and Terry, both of Las Vegas, Nev., and Diane of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren; ande eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 28 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel, which is handling the arrangements.
