1973: Members of the Sweet Home High School chorus work on their parts in the presentation of the opera "Hansel and Gretel," scheduled for March 15 and 16. A double cast was chosen last week for the stage adaptation by Berta Elsmith. At the piano is Cindy Robinson. Standing are Joni Wassom, who will sing the part of the mother; Dave Ego and Greg Ego, both as Hansel; Pauli Walker, Gretel; Jan Hufford, mother; and Bruce Robinson, father. Not present were Donna Miller and Lois Scott, witch; Carmon Brown, Gretel, and Paul Blankenship, father. A total of 100 students are involved in the production from choir, Girls Glee and Chorus. Mrs Myrtle Gates and Paul Rowton are directors.

Robert Harrison Myers was arrested after Daryle Jimerson requested that police look for his stepdaughter, Vickie, who has been trying to obtain a divorce from Myers.
Jimerson told police Myers forced entry into their house and took Vickie by force. Police reported that Myers drove Vickie up the Calapooya River, then got out of the car and allowed her to drive home.
Myers told police he ate a Coke bottle before he was arrested and a light bulb in his cell. A local doctor declined to see Myers when he learned the city would not pay for the call. A broken light bulb and missing g...
