Another bit of history in East Linn County was preserved when the Willamette National Forest accepted 30 acres of forest land at the Cascade Mountain crest of the old Santiam Wagon Road from the Louis W. and Maude Hill Family Foundations.

The two parcels of land were valued at more than $80,000 and, although it contains an excellent stand of timber, will not be managed for timber production.

It will instead be managed for its historical and recreational values. Willamette National Forest Supervisor Zane G. Smith, Jr., said he hopes it will be put on the National Register of...
