David Brock, one of the organizers, said that he later presented two more pins to veterans "who couldn't get out."

The Vietnam veteran lapel pin was minted in 2012 to honor all who served the United States during the Vietnam War at any posting between Nov. 1, 1955 and May 15, 1975. A new pin was recently minted to present to those veterans' surviving spouses.

The pin was issued by the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration.
