Diane Jean McDaniel, 74, of Sweet Home passed away from brain cancer on March 10, 2023.

She was born Dec. 4, 1948, in Portland to Leonard Oliver and Betty (Cramlet) Oliver.

She grew up in Sweet Home and graduated in 1967 from Sweet Home Union High School, where she lettered in swimming.

She married Patrick Cadwell in 1969; they together had one son, Jason Cadwell. They later divorced, in 1984.

Diane loved playing Adult League Softball, and was a very sought-after pitcher who was asked to play on many teams.She also was an avid bowler. She bowled on many teams and spent many years bowling with her mother Betty and her Aunt Birdie.

Diane had a variety of jobs, including working at the Stayton Cannery. In 1986 she began working as a CNA at Twin Oaks Nursing home and worked there for many years.

In 1994 Diane married Glenn Oxender and they were able to do a lot of traveling, including a cross country road trip that she really enjoyed. She also, with Glenn's help, began collecting Pepsi and cat memorabilia. They were together for seven years until Glenn's passing in 2001.

Diane was a long-time member of the Sweet Home Church of the Nazarene. She had a love for the Lord, and always strived to be a great person and servant of Jesus and the church.

In 2008, Diane married Shawn McDaniel. They were married for 12 years until his passing in 2020.

In the last two years her health declined and she received an official diagnosis of a Stage 4 brain tumor in April of 2022.

Special thanks to her caregivers of the last couple years, Mike and Diana Turcott. She had fantastic care because of you!

She is survived by her son, Jason Cadwell and his wife Melodi; granddaughters Rhianna and Melissa; and sister Bonnie Thrift.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard (1983) and Betty Oliver (2005); husbands Glenn Oxender (2001) and Shawn McDaniel (2020).

A funeral service will be performed by Pastor Bethany Young at Sweet Home Church of the Nazarene, 415 Holley Road in Sweet Home at noon Wednesday, March 22, with a private graveside service at Gilliland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations in Diane's name to Sweet Home Church of the Nazarene.
