Sweet Home Fire & Ambulance District personnel responded Tuesday, April 11, to a shed fire in the 28000 block of Riggs HIll Road. According to SHFAD, the 20-by-10-foot structure was being used as a residence. Neighbors who saw smoke called it in at 2:27 p.m. Fire officials determined the blaze's starting point appeared to be a chair, but its cause was unknown. The shed's resident had left the scene and could not provide information to the SHFAD. Battalion Chief Eli Harris said a friend of the resident helped put out the fire by kicking in the door and using a gardening hose before SHFAD personnel arrived to complete the fire-mitigation effort. Damage to contents was estimated at about $500.
