Rough week as softball team falls to league foes in three games

Sweet Home softball lost three league games last week, falling to Stayton 13-2 on Wednesday, Newport 10-5 on Thursday, and Cascade 19-0 on Saturday.

In the first game, the Eagles (11-3, No. 1) outhit the Huskies 12-6, and committed just two errors to Sweet Home's five.

Makayla Guthrie pitched all five innings for the Huskies, striking out one and walking six. Brooke Burke led the team with three hits, while Natalie Smith had the team's only RBI.

Against Newport (7-6), Sweet Home had eight hits while Newport had 11. The Cubs did not commit a single error, but Sweet Home had seven.
