It took more than 20 men from state police, Linn County Sheriff's Office, Sweet Home Fire Department and Ambulance to successfully rescue James Buchanan, of Marcola, from his demolished log truck.
He was pinned in his truck for two hours 100 feet below Highway 20 beside the river while rescuers sawed his steering wheel apart to retrieve him.
Buchanan was westbound on Highway 20 about 15 miles east of Sweet Home when his load shifted on a curve.
