May 1973: Community members visit the newly opened First Federal Savings and Loan. Over 2,500 people participated in the two-day grand opening.

More than 40 businesses are participating in "Ding-A-Ling Daze," the biggest retail sales promotion sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
Businesses will stay open late, and merchants are encouraged to dress in "Ding-A-Ling" costumes. A town crier will drive around in the Ding-A-Lingmobile with a large clock and pass out merchandise certificates every time the clock dings.
Foster School will receive a $3,000 federal grant for the promotion of school libraries.
The school will be known as an "Open Door" project, in that it will be a demonstration school subject to visitation...
