Verdin Davis
Verdin "Boots" Lewis Davis, 77, of Sweet Home, died May 30, 2023.
He was born Feb. 17, 1946, to Roma (Barns) and Raymond H. Davis Sr. in Mt. Shasta, Calif.
Mr. Davis was in the Army from 1966-1968, and served in Vietnam for a year. He grew up in Grants Pass, where he met the love of his life, Peggy Shamel. They married after he returned from Vietnam and moved to Sweet Home in the early 1970s.
Mr. Davis worked as a contractor and carpenter. He owned Boots Construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Mr. Davis is survived by a son, Tad and daughter-in-law Kayla Davis of Sweet Home; daughter Tina Davis of Redmond; brothers Alvin "Buddy" Davis and Jerry Davis; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret "Peggy" in 2017; son Tony Davis in 2019, and brothers Larry Davis in 2022, and Raymond Davis Jr. in 2023.
A graveside service, with military honors, will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, at Gilliland Cemetery.
Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
