Thomas Smith
Thomas Vere Smith, 66, of Sweet Home, died May 26, 2023, at Evergreen Hospice House in Albany.
He was born Feb. 11, 1957, in Myrtle Point to Kirkley (Blair) and Beulah (Comer) Smith. He had four brothers and two sisters.
He graduated Sweet Home High School in 1975, and was loved by his Class of '75. He was MVP of his varsity baseball team his senior year at SHHS. Shortly after high school, Mr. Smith joined the Army, serving for four years.
Mr. Smith was an avid sports fan and a patriot. He was also a former Elks Lodge chair.
While living in Sweet Home, Mr. Smith worked at Primasing Motors, Thriftway and Rite-Aid, was a youth director with the Sweet Home Parks and Recreation, and coached middle school baseball.
Mr. Smith is survived by his children, Beau, Brian, Harmony and Tracy Smith; brothers Harland, Dennis, and Kelly Smith; sisters Patti Eder and Dixie Clark; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Kirk.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at Gilliland Cemetery.
