Sweet Home High School junior-to-be Peyton Markell was the lone Husky to compete in the 2023 Nike Outdoor Nationals meet, held last weekend at Hayward Field.
Markell, who just missed a trip to state after throwing a 7-foot personal best in the javelin to place third, bettered that by another 2 feet with her effort Sunday in Eugene, where she came close to breaking the 100-foot mark with a throw of 99-4½.
