Florence Caroline Elizabeth (Fischer) Bailey, 100, of Foster, died July 13, 2023.
She was born June 12, 1923 in Sandy to William and Mae (McFarland) Fischer.
Mrs. Bailey's greatest joys were her children. She loved each and every one of them. She taught them to be strong and "Go with the Flo" (her nickname, "Flo").
Mrs. Bailey arrived in Sweet Home in 2019, from Yuma, Ariz. She had previously lived in Sandy, Utah, Pipestone Springs, Montana, Imperial Beach, Calif., Oahu, Hawaii, Roseburg, and West Fir, in addition to Sandy, Ore.
Her first job was as a nanny for an instructor pilot. She was trained to be a pilot and the age of 17 she was the youngest pilot to fly from Roseburg to Eugene in 1941. Throughout the years she worked as a cook for Intermountain Heath Careand various restaurants. Her last job revolved around her late husband's travel as a campground host.
Mrs. Bailey loved to travel, riding a motorcycle at the age of 65 across the United States with her late husband. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, knitting hundreds of gifts, especially slippers for her many friends and family.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by her children, George "Tony" and Theda Peck of California, Linda Brennan of Montana, Susan Schmidt of Oregon, Tom Peck of Utah, Gail and Mike Shannon of Utah, and Charles "Chuck" and Phyllis Peck of Colorado; 21 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her spouses, John Bailey (2016), John Peck (1990), and Alfredo Bajo (1978); sons Murray "Sparky" Peck (2007), and Kenneth Peck (2021); siblings Sharon Lonsway, Jerry Galloway and Dorothy Casten; grandchildren Michele Schmidt (2009), Patrick Brennan (2019), and Justin Shannon (2010) and sons-in-law David Schmidt (2019) and Peter Brennan (2021).
