The New Era - All about Sweet Home since 1929

A man was found dead behind the Sweet Home Safeway in the early morning hours of Thursday, Sept. 7. At 12:50 a.m. on that date, someone located the man lying face down on the ground and called law enforcement to the scene.

A Sweet Home Police Department officer attempted to give CPR treatment to the man until medics arrived, but emergency personnel found that he was unresponsive, didn't have a pulse, and wasn't breathing. The man, identified as John Taylor, 43, of Sweet Home, was determined to be deceased.

SHPD Chief Jason Ogden said the cause of death is suspected to be an overdose.
