The Linn County Sheriff’s Office identified Nancy Hoffman, 79, as the person who died in a house fire in the 28200 block of Highway 20 on Thursday, Nov. 9.

Sweet Home fire officials said they arrived on scene at about 3:30, and the caller told them that Hoffman was still inside the house and couldn’t escape. Fire officials said they made a “rapid attack” into the home, where they were met with heavy smoke and high heat.
