Sweet Home forestry team wins its home competition

The Sweet Home High School Forestry Club won its home competition Saturday, March 9, by some 120 points with a total of 366 points.

Clatskenie finished second. Also competing were Scio, Philomath, Sabin and Knappa.

Christian Black was All Around Jack, and LaceAnn Shiffert was All Around Jill. Top finishers were:

LaceAnn Shiffert: First in pole climb, choker setting, ax throw, power bucking, hose lay, job demo speech and job interview and second in first aid.

Christian Black: First in hose lay and Jack and Jill cable splicing and second in choker setting, ax throw, log roll, cross cut and power bucking.

Zech Brown: First in hose lay, Jack and Jill cross cut, first aid and timber cruise; second in cross cut, prepared speech and job interview; and third in written expression.

Jensen Damewood: Second in hose lay.

Colin Owens: Second in pole climb, hose lay and first aid and third in choker setting.

Alex Miller: Second in hose lay.

David Briggs: Second in hose lay.

Dacotah Pennington: Third in Jack and Jill cross cut.

Sam Mitchell: First in Jack and Jill cable splicing and second in power bucking.

Denae Pennington: Second in hose lay and third in power bucking.

Christina Belcher: First in hose lay, second in choker setting and ax throw and third in arbor climb and Jack and Jill cross cut.

Becky Belcher: First in hose lay; second in written expression and job demo speech; and third in choker setting and timber cruise.

Garret Gutierrez: First in map reading.

Wyatt Aiello: Third in map reading.
