10 SHHS students meet Marine Corps

Seven SHHS boys and three girls recently qualified for the U.S. Marine Corps physical fitness 13-13 test.

The boys were required to bench press their weight at least 13 times and to do the same number of pullups.

The girls were required to complete a flexed arm hand for 45 seconds and to bench press 50 percent of their body weight at least 13 times.

Physical education instructor Tom Horn said the following students met or exceed the standards:

A.J. Schoonover, senior, 17 bench presses and 22 pullups; Sam Waller, junior, 15 bench presses and 20 pullups; Shim Baxter, senior, 14 bench presses and 13 pullups; Marlin Weikel, junior, 13 bench presses and 13 pullups; Skyler Bascam, 14 bench presses and 16 pullups; Brandon Tunnell, senior, 17 bench presses and 19 pullups; Pedro Angulo, senior, 16 bench presses and 23 pullups.

Girls: Holly Keesecker, junior, 45 second flex, 13 bench presses; Alisha Basham, senior, 45 second flex, 35 bench presses; Hannah Swanson, 75 second flex and 33 bench presses.
