10th annual Gala of Music and Fine Arts is October 21

The gala festival of music and fine arts is preparing for its 10th annual presentation, to be presented Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

The art show opens at 6 p.m. and will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by a musical concert.

This program has successfully brought together some of Sweet Home and the surrounding areas finest artists and musicians.

Organizers say the goal of the gala has been to cultivate and encourage music and arts in Sweet Home by artists and musicians who share their talents in a non-commercial presentation.

There will be no admission charge, sales or offerings.

The evening begins when the art show opens in the cultural hall, where participants and guests informally gather and view paintings and other art works. Background music will be shared by John Wittwer.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will provide a variety of organ, piano, voice and string renditions. Artists and musicians will involve all ages.

The committee, made up of John Wittwer, Dr. Henry and Mollie Wolthuis, Bruce and Mary Workman, are continually gathering information regarding possible participants and suggestions are always welcome.

“This tribute to Sweet Home’s music and art traditions promises to be a wonderful evening for all concerned,” said Dr. Wolthuis. “For the presenters, it reflects a lifetime of preparation with special efforts in recent months as they share their talents with an appreciative audience.”
