17.8% of voters cast ballots as of Friday

As of Friday morning, Police Chief Bob Burford said, Sweet Home had a 17.8-percent return on ballots for the May 16 vote-by-mail election.

Of 3,554 ballots, 631 had been returned, Burford said.

The police and library levies are on the ballot, and they require a 50-percent voter turnout to be valid.

Ballots are due by 8 p.m. on May 16. They may be dropped off in bags at City Hall, 1140 12th Ave., and the Sweet Home Police Department, 1950 Main St.
