2004-’05 campaign goal achieved!

The United Way of Linn County is pleased to announce surpassing its goal of $800,000 for the 2004-2005 campaign year! This achievement marks the first time in over four years that United Way has reached its annual goal. Campaign Chair Nikki Garrett-Black, of Central Willamette Community Credit Union, provided leadership throughout this campaign. She credits the hard work of United Way?s Board of Directors, led by President William Summers, local business partners, community donors, local labor unions, and United Way staff with making this year?s campaign a success.

In a statement, Nikki expressed her appreciation by saying, ?the entirety of Linn County really stepped up to help those in our community who are less fortunate. Its truly an amazing feeling.?

Numerous volunteers worked tirelessly throughout the campaign to convey understanding of the United Way?s role in the community, develop new relationships, and generate enthusiasm for the cause. Loaned Executives, local business Employee Campaign Coordinators, and United Way?s Campaign & Marketing Committee played vital roles in helping reach and surpass the goal. ?These wonderful people really made this accomplishment possible with their hours of hard work,? said Greg Roe, echoing Garrett-Black?s appreciation. ?We could not have done it without them!? Roe, Executive Director for United Way, Campaign Director Jennifer Moore, and Project Coordinator Chandra Seibel wish to thank these generous people for the hours of hard work put in to making this year?s campaign reach new heights.

Monies received through corporate and employee contributions from Weyerhaeuser businesses, Wah Chang, and Morse Brothers, Inc. during mid February helped the United Way surpass its goal. The four largest campaigns this year included Georgia-Pacific, Target, Wah Chang, and Weyerhaeuser. Employees at over 200 business locations take part in workplace campaigns.

The United Way of Linn County (UWLC) supports twenty-five local, non-profit agencies, including the Boy and Girl Scouts, Linn County Boys and Girls Clubs, Mighty Oaks Children?s Therapy Center, Center Against Rape & Domestic Violence (CARDV) and Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). These agencies improve the lives of children, assist those with disabilities, provide health and wellness care, offer assistance to seniors and help those in need of emergency/crisis care. Community members receive these services regardless of income level or social class.
