The City of Sweet Home Budget Committee voted to approve the proposed 2020-21 city budget on Tuesday May 19.
The committee tabled motions to approve the budget and levy taxes during its previous meeting on May 14 and then held off voting for it until the May 19 meeting to allow the public additional time to comment on the budget.
The committee voted May 19 to approve a total budget amount of $29,363,3833 and to levy property taxes in the amount of $10.44 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.
Present and voting to approve the budget were Mayor Greg Mahler, Diane Gerson, Dave Trask, James Goble, Cortney Nash, Lisa Gourly, Susan Coleman, Bob Briana, Dave Jurney, David Lowman, Gerritt Schaffer and Kenneth Hamlin.
Derek Dix and Lisa Willson were absent.
The budget moves to the City Council, which also serves as half of the Budget Committee, for a public hearing and adoption in June, prior to the end of the current fiscal year on June 30.
