Seven candidates, including two incumbents, have filed for Sweet Home City Council seats.

Deadline for filing was Monday.

Candidates include incumbent Mayor Craig Fentiman, Daniel J. Holman, Kim Lawrence, Eric Markell, incumbent Bob McIntire, Scott McKee Jr. and Josh Victor.

Fentiman has served on the City Council since 1988 and has served three prior terms as mayor.

Fentiman is owner of a Farmer’s Insurance Agency in Sweet Home. He has been a Farmer’s agent for 25 years.

He graduated from Oregon State University with a bachelor of science degree in forest management.

Holman is a retired special inspector with the Clair Company. He worked for Clair from 1996 to 2006 performing special inspections and testing during construction of new buildings and seismic upgrades.

He graduated from Pacific High School in San Bernardino, Calif., and attended Chaffee College in Ontario, Calif. He earned a sales and broker’s license from Real Estate School in Fontana, Calif. He earned certification in computer-aided drafting from Westel College in Pomona, Calif.

Lawrence serves on the Planning Commission, Budget Committee, Parks Board and Safety Committee.

She is retired. In California, she previously worked for Quality Paint and Body as an office manager and estimator. She worked for Central Valley Trucking Center in warranty administration. She was shipping secretary and warranty manager for Peterbuilt.

McIntire is retired. He has served on the council for eight years. He attended Tucson High School and later owned and operated Sweet Home Inn.

McKee serves on city committees, including the Planning Commission, the Budget Committee, the Tree Commission and the Parks Board.

He is a produce manager for Safeway. He has worked for Safeway for 5 1/2 years. He worked in produce for Thriftway for 1 1/2 years.

He earned his GED and attended Linn-Benton Community College, studying communications.

He has served on the city Budget Committee for three years.

Victor is a real estate agent with Coldwell-Banker Branson and Associates. He also is office manager with Northern Investments.

He is a Sweet Home High School graduate. He graduated from Norm Webb Real Estate School and attended LBCC.

Markell is an officer with Coburg Police Department and a former Sweet Home police officer.

He graduated from the University of Hawaii at Helo with a bachelor of science degree in administration of justice and Clackamas Community College with an associate’s degree in criminal justice. He graduated from Clackamas High School.

He is coach for the Sweet Home High School girls’ soccer team.

Leaving the City Council at the end of the year will be Tim McQueary and Dick Hill.

City Council elections will be held on Nov. 7.

The three earning the highest number of votes will serve four-year terms. The fourth-place candidate will serve a two-year term.
