Crafters and Artists Wanted!

The Boys & Girls Club is accepting vendors for their 2023 Holiday Craft Boutique at The Club 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. December 9 at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Santiam, 890 18th Avenue, Sweet Home. Reservation fees are donations to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Santiam: General Crafter: $50, Young Entrepreneur: $10, Teen Entrepreneur: $20. Cultural Coalition accepting applications

The Linn County Cultural Coalition is accepting proposals for grants to fund projects involving the arts, the humanities and heritage activities in Linn County.

The LCCC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization affiliated with the Oregon Cultural Trust, a statewide entity established to promote and strengthen cultural organizations and activities in Oregon. Through local coalitions such as Linn County’s, the Trust distributes funding to all 36 Oregon counties and nine federally recognized tribes.

The LCCC has $22,000 available for grants in 2024. Grants typically range between $250 and $2,000. Applicants may be awarded less than the full amount requested. The grants are available to nonprofit organizations with tax-exempt status. An organization or individual sponsored by a qualifying nonprofit may also apply. Full guidelines for applying are available at linnculture.org.

The deadline for completed grant applications is Feb. 2, 2024. The coalition board will review the applications and decide on awards within a few weeks of that date. Local play: “The Innkeepers”

Satina Tolman, a local playwright, author and artist, invites the public to her original play production, “The Innkeeper,” from 2-3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, and 7-8:15 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Sweet Home High School Auditorium, 1641 Long St. Admission is free thanks to the support of sponsors.

With the mission of bringing people together through the arts, cast, crew and supporters organized the event to spread holiday cheer and share the true meaning of Christmas. The story follows the innkeeper and his wife as they retell the nativity story from their unique perspective. Tolman describes it as a “captivating tale that reminds us of the power of compassion, love and the true meaning of Christmas.”

Gingerbread Competition

Cynthia Fox, Caroline and Matt Bostrom, will be hosting their 5th annual gingerbread competition 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec 16 at 1266 44th Avenue. The event is free and open to anyone. For more information on rules and registration, visit Sweet Home Gingerbread Competition on Facebook.

Grinch Movie Night

The Rusty Bucket Tap House will be hosting a Grinch movie night 5-8 p.m. Dec. 14 with the movie starting at 6 p.m. There will be a special appearance from The Grinch, along with other activities including coloring activities, photos backdrops and a picture with The Grinch.

Grinch Pancake Breakfast

The VFW, VFW Auxiliary, and Sons of AmVets will be hosting a pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m. Dec. 17. With a bike giveaway at 12 p.m. Special guest appearance from The Grinch, and a few others. Every child, up to age 16, will receive a free raffle ticket. Various items will be available for the raffle. You must be present to win. VFW building 580 Main Street.
