GOP to hold Meet the Candidates
Linn County Republicans will host a number of candidates for political offices at a Meet the Candidates event from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Atavista Farm 35580 Highway 228 in Brownsville.
Candidates Jo Rae Perkins (U.S. Senate), Alek Skarlatos (Congress) and Katie Glaser (Oregon House) are expected to attend the social event.

Class on how to start a business
The Small Business Development Center at Linn-Benton Community College will offer a free Zoom-based Going into Business workshop from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28.
The informational, lively class, taught by Melinda Short, will give participants basic information needed to begin planning a successful business. Rules, regulations, financing, customers, markets and feasibility and more will all be discussed.

Meals on Wheels weekly menu
Meals on Wheels offers take-out lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, Sept. 25, will be an Oktoberfest spread of German meatballs with sauce or barbecued chicken breast, garlic whipped potatoes, cabbage and carrots, rye bread and German chocolate cake.
The menu on Monday, Sept. 28, is baked beef rigatoni or sweet and sour chicken with brown rice, green beans, marinated vegetable salad, whole wheat roll and rhubarb apple crisp.
The menu on Tuesday, Sept. 29, is cheese omelet with cheese sauce or pork sausage with gravy, mixed vegetables, romaine iceberg salad, biscuit and mandarin oranges.
